To have a resident's discount (in accordance with Act 2/2012 of 29 June 2012 on subsidies for maritime and air transport for residents of the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla), you must be a citizen of Spain, another member state of the European Union or signatory state to the European Economic Area Agreement.

Since 1 September 2012, the residents of the non-mainland areas who wish to receive a discount must accredit their residence with the following documents:

  • Spanish citizens: the registration certificate issued by the local council where they live in accordance with the form shown in Annex I of Royal Decree 1316/2001, together with their identity document, to identify them. Spanish citizens aged under 14 who do not have a Spanish identity document (DNI) must only show the registration certificate issued by their local council.
  • Foreign citizens (residents of the EU-27 states plus Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland): the registration certificate issued by the local council where they live in accordance with the form shown in Annex I of Royal Decree 1316/2001, together with their identity document or passport, to identify them.
